The veil!!

Why do some people hate it so much?
I think it is a freedom of clothes!
Nobody attacks the nun!
Nobody attacks the Jewish man with the Jewish little hat on his head.
Nobody attacks the Indian dress covering the head.
Why is over body exposure allowed and body cover so scary now?
Natural said the devils advocate " however our instinct is to cover up"
Our worst nightmare is to be naked in public
If you are so open minded be open minded enough to accept the different the covered up.
Is it the media? that glorified the western woman?
I am not veiled it is not something I can do, because it is just not me.
However I respect the freedom to cover up just like I respect the freedom to reveal.
When I was in Sharm I was sitting and a man next to me took off his swimming suite now thank God I was warned to look away, now why is he so free to show what no one registered for seeing, and my poor veiled friend is discriminated against here in Cairo.
They treat the veiled better in the states. They treat her like a ghost here, like all we are here is our bodies. I can not help it but think the man who hates the veil so much wants to see what is under it. What if a woman believes in it? What if she wants to be treated like a human being not an object?

Being open minded means accepting the different. I personally think the heart is the most important part of the person, but if someone thinks they need to cover let them. live and let live. Stop being against what is now fact, they are there, they are everywhere, they chose it, it is not iran, mind your own business, will you live all your life upset that people are choosing a certain dress code that makes them comfortable?

I am not my Body! Look through me not at me!! Stop looking at women like they are their bodies!!!

  1. i have to disagree with you on this one tous. although i do think general discrimination is cruel and wrong in so many ways, i an understand why there's such discrimination about the veiled. to me, it comes down to two things
    1. we the non-veiled were once discriminated against from the veiled. each and every one of us got "the look" at some point or another. we were all judged and maybe even belittled at the time when the veil was just going high in demand and we opted not to wear it. so this is just payback
    2. i despise the fact that the veiled woman is a global representation of my religion. how they act is conveyed as "Islam" even though a lot of the time they are in wrong doing. their choice to wear the veil affects the way MY religion is perceived. and that is in no way fair
i know i said they were only two but i just thought of a third reason: the veiled girl automatically assumes that she is more religious/religiously knowledgeable than i. and that infuriates me because religion is a relationship between God and i, not a social race as it has come to be illustrated.

  2. i know what u mean i have been looked at the same way by a lot of them. But thats the bad percentage ruining it for the majority like everything else.
I think people should be free to wear or not to wear what they want and they should not judge u and me and we should not judge them.
If your mom and my mom were veiled we would have grown up thinking it is the norm, and we would have defended it like it was our cause.
but i understand what you mean exactly and a lot of times I think like that.

  3. Spititual people feel a need to cover their heads, i looked online for a reason why yogis and sikhs do it too and i got the answer
Question: Why do Kundalini Yoga Teachers cover their head with a cloth or turban?
Answer: Yogi Bhajan taught us that the hair is alive and has an energy function. We are training ourselves to be aware of and master our subtle energies and so he has all teachers cover our head and hair with a cotton cloth or wrapped turban. Any natural fiber head covering is functional, however he has provided an entire system he calls "turban therapy" which The practical reason for wearing a head covering can be summed up as follows: Your head is a very sensitive part of the body:

The skull is made up of tiny bones that are constantly moving even if only by micro millimeters and the degree to which they move impacts levels of calmness or anxiety. Covering the head provides a sense of containment and focus while practicing yoga or while doing work that requires clarity of thought. It literally helps "keep your head together".

The forehead consists of porous bone which allows light to pass through it and stimulate the light sensitive pituitary gland. The pituitary is the master gland which regulates all other glands. If it is not stimulated by enough light, a lack of glandular secretion can result including the "feel-goods"dopamine, serotonin and melatonin. Therefore keeping this area of the forehead clear (having the hair up or not wearing bangs ) can help with these hormone levels. The hairs on all parts of our body is an extension of our sensitive field, an antenna.

And speaking of hair: The hairs conduct electricity and wherever they are on the body, they balance the electromagnetic charge at that part of the body. (eye brows, armpits, sexual area, chest, head, etc) When the hair is uncut it stablizes the body's electromagnetic field. Also imagine that if your hair is like a coil of electricity, that by coiling it all together at the top of the head -it will draw more electricity/energy towards it like a big electromagnet. This has the effect of pulling up the energy residing at the base of the spine (lower chakras) to the higher centers. If the hair is altered on any part of the body it will have an effect on the electromagnetic field and the physical body as well.
